A 1976 Olympic torch from Montreal is a rare find indeed. Offered from the estate of sports journalist Pierre Proulx, this red and black aluminum torch used in the 1976 Olympic torch relay is a shade under 26" tall. With only 1,250 pieces produced, the torch is from one of the smallest production numbers since the Olympic flame relays was introduced in Berlin in 1936. The torch remains in wonderful condition with the Montreal Olympic logo in white. A bit of the red paint chipped off the bottom of the handle does not diminish its display. Also offered along with the torch are Proulx's ID cards and passes from both editions of the 1976 Olympic games, including one from Montreal and two from the winter games in Innsbruck as well as various Proulx clippings.
