Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
The image of Wayne Gretzky raising Lord Stanley's coveted trophy for the first time and shaking it above his head is one astute hockey observers will never forget. Kenny Linseman's early second period goal in the 5-2 Cup-clincher at Northlands Coliseum proved to be the Cup-winner, while Mark Messier copped the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP. This wonderful pendant was given as a gift by Wayne Gretzky to his longtime girlfriend Vickie Moss following the Oilers first Stanley Cup Championship in 1984. This pendant, identical in design to the top of the player rings, was also produced from Balfour and presented to female staff members and player wives. The front presents a large solitaire zircon floating in a sea of blue with "Edmonton Oilers" and "1984". The reverse is engraved with "Stanley Cup Champions, Vickie Moss" and "10K". A marvelous memento given by the greatest player ever to his sweetheart of seven years marking this unforgettable occasion! Purchased directly from Vickie.
