Ernie "Moose" Johnson enjoyed a professional career that spanned from 1905 to 1931. He was a member of four Stanley Cup winning teams between 1905 and 1910 with the Montreal Wanderers of the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association (ECAHA) and later in 1909-10, when the Wanderers jumped to the newly formed National Hockey Association (NHA). Johnson scored seven goals during the season to help the Wanderers win the inaugural league championship, and consequently re-capture the Stanley Cup from Ottawa. Classic pocket watch by Waltham presented to hockey Hall-of-Famer (inducted 1963) "Moose" Johnson as a valued member of the victorious 1910 Montreal Wanderers Stanley Cup Champions. Engraving inside the case back proclaims that the watch was presented "from his Points friends", which leads us to believe it was gifted by his teammates who played a similar "point" position. More verbiage reads "Ernie Johnson, Cover Point, Wanderer H.C. World's Champs '10" and decorative script on the outside of the case holds "TEJ", initials for Thomas Ernie Johnson. The wind-up watch is in clean and excellent condition and is in running order, although we are not positive that it keeps proper time over an extended period. Early mementos such as this are seldom offered for sale, making this a unique opportunity to obtain a piece from a storied hockey club.
