Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012

Although many minor leagues used the NHL's Spalding game pucks throughout the 1930s, you can be assured that this example saw action in "The Bigs". This spectacular double-sided Spalding National Hockey League game puck is labeled in white with "Boston Bruins 2, Ottawa Senators 1" with the date, "Mar. 13, 1934". With visible game use and the edges, which have been chiselled, the puck was no doubt obtained from the above-referenced match. The backside has a glued-on Eddie Shore picture with handwritten notations reading "Boston Bruins, Right Defense". A wonderful old pre-war puck.
