Ah yes, the famous Walter Smaill, famous amongst collectors of pre-war material for having two similar but different cards in the C55 set of 1911-12. This is the version where Walter’s right hand is at the top of his stick, as opposed to the version without a stick visible. Card #27 here has been encapsulated and deemed EX 5 by PSA, with eleven examples of this version having received a higher grade from the company. The PSA Population Report reveals that 56 of these have been sent in to PSA. Smaill was part of the Wanderers’ 1907-08 Stanley Cup championship team and also saw action with Cobalt and Ottawa. Please note that this intriguing card may be subject to a silent reserve.
