Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011

The jaw-dropping bright colors continue with this high grade example of Hall-of-Famer Jack Darragh’s rookie card, slabbed a luscious NM 7 by PSA. The Ottawa native spent his entire pro career with the Senators and is one of only two players to score the Stanley Cup-winning goal in back-to-back years, a feat that wasn’t duplicated until Mike Bossy came along. Sadly, Darragh died of a ruptured appendix following the 1923-24 season. As of press time, 84 Darragh RCs had been submitted to PSA, with this and three others earning a NM 7 mark and bettered by only three at NM-MT 8 and another 8 with a qualifier. More eye-candy to be considered by serious pre-war collectors, this example may be subject to a silent reserve.
