Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
Depicting one of the stars of the pre-NHL era, Tom Dunderdale’s card #6 here, from Imperial Tobacco’s coveted C55 set, is in ultra-appealing NM-MT 8 condition, with PSA having only ever graded one other similar example a notch higher at 8.5. Additionally, only (55) C55 cards total have been slabbed NM-MT 8 as of press time, with just six at 8.5 and one at 9, and that, out of some 3800 cards submitted to the company over the years. Dunderdale, after his lone year with the Quebec Bulldogs, actually in 1910-11, went west to join the Patricks when the PCHA was formed, starring with Victoria and Portland for 12 years and scoring more goals in the PCHA than any other player. In 1974 Dunderdale, posthumously, became the first Australian-born player, (his family moved to Canada when he was 16), to be elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Please note that this high grade scarcity may be subject to a silent reserve.
