Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
Who own da’ Chiefs great movie poster collection? Despite her persuasive charms, Anita McCambridge just couldn’t get a grip on it. Anita's loss will be one happy Slap Shot! fan’s gain, with this lot of eight international posters and photos from the greatest hockey movie ever. Highlights include a rare Japanese mini poster and movie program, Belgian lobby cards, and posters from France, Argentina, Spain, and Australia. Gordie Howe once quipped, “All players are bilingual. They know English and profanity” so you’ll still get the message loud and clear even without understanding the language. Don’t sit in da box and feel shame by missing out on this little chunk of Charlestown! Get right back where we started from in 1977. Please see website for detailed listing of contents. This collection includes the following: 1) Set of 8 Belgian lobby cards 9” x 11” 2) 15 ¾” x 21 ¼” French poster “La Castagne” 3) 7 ¾” x 11” double-sided Japanese mini poster 4) 8 ¼” x 11 ¾” Japanese movie program 5) 13 ¾” x 29” Australian daybill poster – “Wed. 22nd Sept.” written in black marker across the top 6) 27 ½” x 39” Spanish poster “El Castanazo” 7) 39 ¾” x 26 ¾” large Argentinian poster “Todo Vale”- This looks like it survived a round or two with the Hansons. Along the edges, many pin holes and some small holes along the centre crease provide proof this was proudly displayed in another Slap Shot! fan’s home or office. Still worthy of hanging on a wall! 8) 29” x 43 ½” large Argentinian poster “Todo Vale” - It appears as though Ogie Oglethorpe tried to swipe this gem for Ms. McCambridge, but the Hansons quickly came along and pried it from him. It emerged with a few battlescars, notably a tear up top and holes along the lower horizontal and centre crease. It may not be perfect but sports a great playoff face!
