Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
A Peter Stastny game-used stick from his 1980-81 Calder Trophy rookie season is featured in this lot of five gamers wielded by members of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Pat Lafontaine’s gamer from his sensational 1992-93 season is also included along with game-used sticks from Bruins greats Cam Neely and Brad Park and a Denis Savard Habs stick. Stastny used this Titan stick in 1980-81 when he set an NHL rookie mark with 109 points after defecting from communist Czechoslovakia. “P. Stastny” is stamped in red on the shaft and a “Feb 18 1981” date stamp sits on the back of the shaft of this gorgeous stick, which retains Stastny’s tape jobs on the blade and knob, which also has his number “26” written on it in black marker. Both tape jobs remain in place on all of the sticks except Park’s Canadien gamer with a “3 Fev. 1981” date stamp which has an outline where the All-Star defenseman’s tape job was removed from the blade. The rough bottom edge of the now-bare blade shows wear, though the stick is intact and displays blue paint marks along the shaft. Lafontaine’s “All the best” dedicated black marker autograph sits low on the face of the shaft of his Louisville TPS gamer. His surname is stamped on the front of the shaft and a “Nov 25 1992” date stamp is on the back as Lafontaine scored 53 goals and 95 assists for 148 points that season. Neely signed in black marker on the heel of his Canadien gamer from 1990, a real beauty from the height of his 50-goal seasons which displays nice game use and retains a smooth bottom edge of the blade. Savard’s name is stamped on the front of the shaft of his Canadien gamer which displays wear along the bottom edge of his black tape job on the blade and plenty of puck gouges in the tape. His no. “18” is written in black marker below his red tape knob. A great grouping of wood gamers to add to your HOF collection, or to get one started!
