Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011

Dave Babych's 19-year NHL career included six seasons with the Whalers in Hartford, Connecticut. The defenseman wore this impressive heavy mesh Whalers jersey during road trips at some point in the mid-1980s, probably 1985-86, when his brother Wayne was also with the franchise. With "D. Babych" sewn directly across the back (no nameplate), the jersey shows very light game use. Neck tagging includes a CCM label with "48' marked in blue ballpoint and a Gerry Cosby supplier label. A great defunct style from a team that still retains a huge following in New England.
