This rare and early cabinet photo shows members of the 1909 Queens University hockey team, Inter-Collegiate champions of Canada. The school was a powerhouse in hockey and once challenged for the famous Stanley Cup in February 1906. Although it included Hall-of-Famers George Richardson and Marty Walsh in its lineup, the 1906 Queens squad was beaten 16-7 and 12-7 by the powerful Ottawa Silver Seven on February 27th and 28th. This wonderful image of the 1909 team has each player listed below on the matte and measures out to a whopping 16 x 22 inches, unframed. In excellent condition, apart from a water stain along the left side of the matte that does not reach the photograph and a few marks on the mat.
