Silver medals from the 1961 world championships and 1965 European championship and a 1976 world championship gold medal, all won by Czechoslovakia, are featured in this great lot of 10 international hockey medals. The 1961 IIHF world championship silver medal measures 2 1/4" in diameter. Czechoslovakia finished second in Switzerland behind Canada and ahead of the Soviet Union. The silver from the 1965 European championship in Finland measures a shade under 2 inches in diameter. Both of these 1960s silver medals feature the IIHF’s French-language “Ligue Internationale de Hockey sur Glace” logo on the reverse. The 1976 gold medal was won in Poland as Czechoslovakia won 9 and tied 1, outscoring its opponents 67-14 overall. This substantial medal measures 2 3/4” in diameter and comes with its yellow-and-blue ribbon. Participation medals are included from the 1967, 1973, and 1977 world championships along with a “Senioren Gruppen A” medal for the 1998 tournament in Switzerland. Rounding out the lot are medals from the 1978 Spengler Cup and one each from the Swedish (1980-81) and Finnish (1988) hockey federations.
