Hall of Fame goalies Johnny Bower and Harry Lumley are featured in this vintage original late 1950s artwork used for an unknown publication. “BROB” signature on this 10 3/4” x 10” original illustration identifies this piece as the work of Boston-area sports artist Bill Robinson. Lumley and Bower crossed paths in the 1959 semi-final. Lumley made the last seven of his 76 career playoff appearances as the Bruins fell in seven games. Bower, who was a year older than his counterpart, played the first seven of his 74 NHL playoff games with the Leafs in the series, delivering a 3-2 win in the April 7 finale at Boston Garden. Blue ink “5 1/4” Wide Tue Sports” notation is written on the reverse of this original illustration board, which remains in excellent condition overall. To note are a small tear in the upper right corner, a few drops of white paint, thumbtack holes and imprints in two other corners, and a crease along the right side.
