Fabulous 1950s Detroit Red Wings trophy puck was presented to Marguerite Norris, the first woman to have her name inscribed on the Stanley Cup! Originally obtained from a member of the Norris family, this magnificent and unique piece of hockey history was presented to Norris, who became the league’s first female executive when she took over as Red Wings president after the death of her father, James Norris Sr., in December 1952. With Marguerite Norris at the helm, Detroit won three straight league titles and consecutive Stanley Cups in 1954 and 1955, before her brother Bruce assumed the team’s presidency. Offered here is an official game puck that is said to have been used during the 1954 playoffs. The proper type of Art Ross NHL game puck in use at the time, this rare biscuit is encircled with a silver band around its edge that bears the inscription, “To Marguerite A. Norris, President, Detroit Red Wings, N.H.L. – Stanley Cup Champions”, along with the facsimile signatures of members of the 1953-54 team, as evidenced by the presence of forward Jimmy Peters. Red Wings legends Jack Adams, Terry Sawchuk, Marcel Pronovost, Ted Lindsay, Alex Delvecchio, Red Kelly, Tommy Ivan, and of course, Mr. Hockey himself, Gordie Howe, are all featured on this one-of-a-kind Red Wings trophy puck. A superb piece that is guaranteed to have Motor City hearts racing to deliver the winning bid!
