A model of consistency for over 20 seasons in a Boston uniform, Ray Bourque retired as the all-time points leader for defencemen in NHL history, helping the Bruins reach the playoffs for 17 consecutive seasons along the way. Playing 30 minutes a game, the 5-time Norris Trophy winner had nine 20-or-more-goal seasons (plus four 19-goal seasons) and totaled 410 goals for his illustrious career, the only d- man to score more than 400. Ray’s black air-knit Bruins road jersey had “52” added to the Maska tag in the neck and shows moderate game use. Notables are a 3-inch team repair at the left elbow, red paint transfer in one of the “7”s higher up, half a dozen stick marks on the front (including one in the Bruins crest), pilling along the middle of the rear hem, three small burns on the left shoulder (just above the captain’s “C”), and a burn on the same shoulder (below the bear patch). According to our research this jersey would have been worn by Ray in the 1990-91 season. Donned by one of Boston’s most beloved hockey heroes, the jersey is worthy of a serious Bruins/Hall of Fame collection.
