Pound-for-pound, one of the greatest players ever to lace’em up, Henri Richard inked this official NHL Standard Player’s Contract prior to the 1963-64 season, his ninth with the Canadiens. This two-sided, one-page document reveals that the dynamo was paid $23,000, with research indicating he picked up some bonus money; $1,000 for Montreal’s first place finish and $500 for his combined regular season and playoff point total of 55 ($100 for every point over 50). A thousand dollars if the Habs won the first playoff round wasn’t paid after Toronto ousted the Canadiens in seven semi-final games. Signed in the appropriate places in bold blue ink by Hall-of-Famers Frank Selke, Richard and Clarence Campbell, the intriguing contract is dated September 13, 1963 and will come with an LOA from Classic.
