Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
Wonderful opportunity here to score one of the hobby's most coveted game programs with this virtually crease-free example from the famous Howie Morenz memorial game, played November 2, 1937. A combined team of both the Montreal Canadiens and Maroons skated against a team of all-stars from the rest of the NHL, with the proceeds of some $20,000 going to the family of the iconic Habs star who had died the previous March. The Montrealers scored three late goals to make it close, but the All-Stars hung on for a 6-5 win. The complete and whole 56-page program has no unsightly creases and is intact other than the lineup page detached from the bottom centerfold staple. The classic colorized image of Morenz is not diminished by wear and soiling on the cover that is also exhibited on the photo of Morenz and Howie Jr. on the back cover.
