Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011

The thought of the Montreal Canadiens all taking pencil to paper over 75 years ago sure is a swell one for Habs historians and autograph enthusiasts. This little notebook page is approximately 2-1/2” by 4” and is signed on both sides. Howie Morenz’s “H Morenz” autograph is bold and appears above those of Johnny Gagnon and Pit Lepine, while descending to meet the legend’s penmanship are those of trainer Ed Dufour, Sammy Godin (only time with the Canadiens was 36 games in 1933-34), Art Alexandre (played 10 games in ’31-32 and one in ’32-33) , one we’re not sure of, Wildor Larochelle and Gerald Carson. The other side features big flowing autographs of Albert Leduc, Aurele Joliat, Sylvio and Georges Mantha and Marty Burke, with another undetermined sig and Leo Bourgault completing. Tough to determine an exact year on this treasure but we believe it’s either ’32-33 or ’33-34 and possibly a training camp affair.
