Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
Only 15, Elaine Tanner was the Mighty Mouse who made the American swimming powerhouse quake, winning two gold medals and fifth place at the US Nationals in 1966. It was the first time in swimming history a Canadian had beaten the Americans. It’s even more impressive because Tanner had no financial support and her coach was not sanctioned for the event. The small loop attaching the 100 yard fly gold medal to the ribbon is broken, but easily repaired. Both the 100 yard back and 200 yard fly medals are in good condition. Also included are the American Athletic Union champion patches, pin, plus other memorabilia. See website for details. With LOA from Elaine Tanner. This listing also includes: 8 black and white photos of Tanner atop the podium, acceptance letter and original envelope from acceptance into 1968 US Nationals.
