Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
One of the hobby’s most desirable cards, the RC of Gordie Howe, comes to us from one of hockey’s most prolific goal-scorers, Luc Robitaille. Card number 66 in Parkhurst’s landmark 1951-52 issue features bold vivid colors and lists Howe’s 43 goals and 43 assists of the previous season, the 86 points earning the Red Wings' star his first of four consecutive scoring championships. We cannot spot a single crease and deem this one at least EX+, with EX-MT a possibility when viewed by professional graders. Minor corner wear is the only aspect denying this beauty a loftier grade. A Howe rookie card is an absolute must for any important vintage card stash, with this example surely rendering its new owner pleased indeed. Knowing that it previously was owned by a guy who scored 668 NHL regular season goals is mighty cool, too! An LOA signed by Luc Robitaille will be included.
