For the second consecutive season the Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers met for the Grey Cup in 1938. Although the end result was the same, the way the Argos won was quite different than their two previous championships. The hero on this day would be the 20-year-old Red Storey, who became a household name in just 15 minutes of action, scoring three touchdowns and setting up another to hand the Argos a dramatic victory. Storey would go on to a career as a CFL and NHL referee and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1967. Red has autographed this amazing championship game ball, along with dozens of his victorious Grey Cup winning teammates. The vintage signatures litter the official Spalding football with an inked Argonauts, Dominion Champions, Argos 30, Bombers 7, 1938. We count 40 sigs in total, all fashioned in bold and legible black ink. Dave Ferris, Jim Palmer, Johnny Munro, Wes Cutler, Pat Reid, Harry Booth, Bill Zonk, Captain Art Evans, Jimmy Dolan... the are all here. Amazing!
