Fabulous collection of images featuring the long gone New York Americans is highlighted by two special team photos of the 1938-39 squad, one on a real photo postcard and the other a spectacular 7 x 10 colorized version of the same image mounted on cardboard. The players names are written on the reverse of the postcard (trimmed right border), and appear beneath a similar sepia newspaper photo. Two wire photos are from a December, 1935 Americans-Rangers game and include Worters, Schriner, Kerr and Cook, while a 1940 AP photo pictures Detroits Tiny Thompson foiling Johnny Sorrell in playoff action. Two matte-finish snapshots meanwhile capture Hall-of-Famers Hooley Smith and Busher Jackson during their brief time with the Americans, with another of Pat Egan in action against the Maple Leafs completing the lot. Terrific pre-war photography!
