Fabulous pair of signed pieces feature signatures of hockey pioneers Edward Stanley andF.C. Chittick, both members of the Ottawa Hockey Club in the 1890s. Stanley was the son of Frederick Arthur Stanley, Canada's Governor General who donated the original Dominion Challenge Cup, and was a member of the Ottawa Rebels hockey team formed by his brother Arthur. Edward Stanley's bold fountain pen "Derby" signature is on a 3-12/" by 4-1/2" card that is dated "Paris - July 7, 1918" when he was the 17th Earl of Derby and the ambassador to France. Chittick meanwhile played six seasons in goal for Ottawa from 1895 to 1900. Chittick's signature appears on the (6" x 9") cardboard mat above an unidentified photo of five gentleman and is dated "1892." Desirable signatures from two pioneers of Canadian hockey.
