A signed Lord Byng letter stands out in this collection of rare signatures. A framed autograph and picture display featuring signatures from Lester Patrick, Clarence Campbell and Harry Lumley is also included in this two-item lot. Byng, the future Governor General of Canada, has signed this handwritten letter on "Headquarters, Third Army, B.E.F." letterhead that is date-stamped 14 DEC. 1917 in black. The commander of the Canadian expeditionary forces in Europe, Byng exhibits smooth penmanship in this World War I supply request. A framed display includes an autograph sheet with four ballpoint signatures, including Patrick, Lumley and Campbell. The paper has been framed and mounted in a black matte display that also features individual photos of the threeHall-of-Famers. Elected in 1947 as a player, Patrick would have easily qualified as a builder. Campbell was admitted to the Hall in 1966 in the midst of his 31-year term as president of the NHL. Lumley, inducted in 1980, made his debut as a 17-year-old with Detroit in 1942-43. Loaned to New York for one game later that season, he went on to play for Toronto, Chicago and Boston during a 16-year career that saw him appear with every Original Six team except Montreal. [red] Please note that the Lord Bing letter is autographed twice by Lord Bing. [/red]
