Fascinating and thought-provoking skates would have been laced up by a premier female hockey player in the early-1900s and is a type we have never come across in the past. A label in the inner lining of one boot reads Mcphersons Lightning Hitch Hockey Shoe, as well as Patented 1903, while the intriguing metal devices up the back heels/tendons look to be support/tightening features and are inscribed Patented 1907-09-21 CCM Weston, Canada. Two leather fastening straps on each, Ladies Auto engraved into each blade (which also include 9-1/2 near the tip) and MADE IN CANADA on each boot bottom are also to note. Theyve survived in excellent condition, with a couple of screws gone missing on the bottom of one. The image of women wearing long skirts andpassing/chasing/shooting a puck on outdoor rinksis conjured up by these remarkable relics andspecial pieces of Canadiana!
