Line these two wood beauties against any modern composite hockey stick and its not hard to envision the games development over the course of its long and storied history. With obvious nods to the Irish sport of hurling, these two bandy sticks were used in the 19th Century predecessor to the modern game of ice hockey. The shaft of each stick bears more than a passing resemblance to a wooden axe handle, right down to the curved edge of the butt end of the stick. This is a great pair of museum-worthy hockey artifacts dating from the games very origins.
