Both the '88 and '90 Stanley Cup Finals pitted the Oilers against the Bruins with the Oilers coming on top in both series. The Oilers won the '88 Cup at home in the Northlands Coliseum and completed the "sweep" in a rescheduled Game 4. The Oilers fourth Stanley Cup Championship remains bittersweet for the fans in Edmonton as it also represents Wayne Gretzkys final moment in an Oilers uniform. Edmonton fans saw their favorites win their fifth Cup win in seven years in '90 and their only victory without Wayne Gretzky. The 1988 ring has four substantial cubic zircons, engulfed by numerous smaller stones, are surrounded by the words "1988 Stanley Cup Champions" on the face of this stunning ring. The logo of the Edmonton Oilers is prominently featured on the left shank with "McAvoy" above. The opposing shank proudly lists the teams Championship seasons engraved onto four raised Cups with the motivational image of the carrot. The interior of this majestic bauble is stamped with the 10K marking from the manufacturer. The 1990 ring is a stunning creation in gleaming gold and dazzling diamonds. The table of this ring features four hefty solitaire cubic zircons swimming in a sea of smaller gems surrounded by the "McAvoy" with an enameled Oilers logo and "1990". The other shank has "5 Stanley Cup Championships" with a raised image of the cup and "84, 85, 87, 88, 90". The interior of the band is stamped with the manufacturer's 10K markings. Elsie McAvoy, mother-in-law to Edmonton Oilers owner Peter Pocklington, was presented with these ring to celebrate the teams Stanley Cup season's. Accompanying letters of authenticity, from the Jostens representative in Edmonton who was charged with producing the Oilers rings for all five championships and who has closely examined these rings, details the authenticity of theses rings and notes that both examples were produced for Mrs. McAvoy and are listed on the original order forms and documentation for the Oilers 1988 and 1990 Stanley Cup rings. The pair is in pristine condition, complete with additional letters of provenance signed by Peter Pocklington.
