Had he lived, Terry Sawchuks last stop in the NHL may in fact have proved to be the 1969-70 New York Rangers. The legendary goaltenders death in the summer of 1970 will leave undetermined the matter of whether Sawchuk would have continued to play after appearing in only eight games with the Rangers as Ed Giacomins backup. Sawchuks signature stands out in the upper left corner of this framed 9 x 7 page of autographs of 16 members of the 1969-70 Rangers, including Arnie Brown, Walt Tkaczuk, Jean Ratelle, Rod Seiling, Brad Park, Bill Fairbairn, Real Lemieux, Juha Widing, Al Hamilton, Vic Hadfield, Don Marshall, Orland Kurtenbach, Larry Brown, Ron Stewart and Dave Balon. Widing and Lemieux, who were traded to Los Angeles during the season, also led all-too-brief lives. Lemieux had retired from hockey already when he died at the age of 30 in 1975 of a blood clot in the brain. Widing was 37 and also out of the game when he passed away in 1984 after a lengthy illness. A team photo is also presented in this display that is mounted in a13 x 21 black metal frame.
