Memories of great Montreal Canadiens championships – including Elmer Lach’s Stanley Cup-winning overtime goal in 1953 and Jean Beliveau’s 1965 inaugural Conn Smythe Trophy win – are relived with this fantastic collection of original playoff programs. An original Forum Sports Magazine program from Game 5 of the 1953 final is featured here from the night that Lach had his nose broken as a result of Maurice Richard’s joyous and enthusiastic embrace in the wake of his overtime winner against Boston. To note, the program’s front cover is creased and the back cover has been glued. Beliveau, who went on to win the first playoff MVP trophy, is pictured on the Forum program for the first game of Montreal’s 1965 semi-final against Toronto. Forum programs from the 1966 and 1967 finals, another from the second game of the Canadiens’ semi-final win over Boston in 1969, and a St. Louis Blues program from the third game of the 1969 final round out the 1960s programs. A program from the third game of the 1973 semi-final against Philadelphia at the Spectrum and another from one of the first two games of the 1976 final against the Flyers at the Forum conjure up more happy memories for Habs fans, as does an original Flames program from one of the first two games of the 1986 final at the Saddledome. Among the two Stanley Cup final tickets included is a Detroit Olympia ticket stub from the third game of the 1956 final, which Montreal won in five games. A phantom ticket for Game 7 of the 1986 final in Calgary was never used because the Canadiens beat the Flames in five games to win their 23rd Stanley Cup.
