A veteran of 18 professional seasons, Charlie Hodge played his first NHL game in 1954 with Montreal. But because teams in that era only carried one goalie, and Montreal had perhaps the best goalie of the era in Jacques Plante, Hodge was only used in emergency situations. When Plante was traded in 1962, Hodge got his chance to play full-time. He twice won the Vezina Trophy for being the goaltender of the team allowing the fewest number of goals during the regular season, once outright in 196364 and shared with Gump Worsley in 196566. Charlies game used Northland Pro model stick has Hodge stamped on the front of the shaft and a silver paint pen autograph appears down near the blade. Nice game use with plenty of puck marks on the paddle and some slices in the blade tape with a good crack at the heel. Also included is a shutout puck, saved from early in Charlies hockey career. The Art Ross NHL game puck is labeled St. Catherines,25 Feb. 53 and comes from a personal hoard of pucks that Charlie retrieved at the end of games where he did not allow a goal. Obtained directly from Charlie Hodge, this intriguing puck will come with his signed letter of authenticity.
