The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
Here is a rare offering, indeed. For the first time in recent memory a complete set of six official NHL game pucks from the Original Six teams is offered at auction. The Tyer Rubber Company, official suppliers of the official Art Ross NHL puck, began putting rubberized team logos on the face of the puck in 1958. This remarkable lot includes three team game pucks from Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs of the first version used from 1958 to 1962. The Boston Bruins puck included in this set was an official NHL game puck used between1962-64 when Tyer dropped Made in U.S.A. from its hexagonal crest on the reverse. The New York Rangers puck reflects the companys name change to Converse that was printed on those official gamers used from 1964-67, and the Montreal Canadiens puck that rounds out the lot features the Converse logo, which was added to the puck in 1967-68, the teams final year at the Forum before its massive renovation in the summer of 1968. All six pucks are in great condition and completely legible. The owner of the winning bid for this fantastic collection of pucks will fill the net with this sensational group of six originals from the Original Six.
