The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
Dubbed the Pocket Rocket as a nod to his big brother, hockey legend Maurice Richard, diminutive center Henri Richard made his Montreal Canadiens debut in the 1955-56 season. This lot consists of two personal awards from Richards collection, each of which he has signed underneath the base in blue sharpie. The Rockets little brother was presented with this distinctive puck trophy to commemorate his first NHL goal on October 15, 1955. Richard won the first of five straight Stanley Cups with his older brother in the spring. While Maurice retired with a then-record eight Cups following the 1959-60 season, Henri would do even better, breaking his older brothers record on his way to an unheard of 11 championships over the course of his own Hall of Fame career. Among the wide range of honors bestowed upon him while playing for the Canadiens was this Hat Trick Trophy presented to him by the Dow Brewery. The unique award still has its original glass ashtray and features a puck with a gold-colored Dow logo. [red] Will come with an LOA from M. Henri Richard [/red]
