Reunited and honoured during the 30th anniversary, the Edmonton Oilers brought back the entire 1984 Stanley Cup champion Edmonton Oilers squad in 2014, and paid tribute with each member given a new Oilers jersey to wear while enjoying a meet and greet with fans. This particular jersey was donned by HOF superstar Mark Messier, and was worn throughout the meet and greet, as well as later in the evening at a video presentation of the ’84 Oilers, which was followed by each member hoisting Lord Stanley’s grail. The jerseys were then removed, and autographed before being offered in the Oilers’ Community Foundation 1984 Stanley Cup Champions Legacy Reunion Online Charity Auction, held from Oct 13th to Oct 21st, 2014. Messier has autographed the team crest in thin black marker, with the flawless signature accompanied by “84’ Reunion”. A DVD of the event is also included, along with an LOA from the Edmonton Oilers.
The jersey has Reebok “XL” sizing along the collar, with an NHL shield crest over the front neckline. Styled with the traditional oil drop team crest, “11” appears over the sleeves and verso in layered twill, with the 1983-84 Legacy Reunion patch over the right breast. With no issues to note, the jersey remains in gorgeous condition.
