The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
An important member of 10 Stanley Cup championships as a player, this is the 7th and last Stanley Cup ring which Jean Beliveau received as the team's Senior Vice-President of Corporate Affairs. The presentation came after Patrick Roy wrote another chapter in his Hall of Fame career. Roy's exceptional play in the spring of 1993 after the Canadiens fell behind 2-0 in their opening round series against arch rival Quebec will never by forgotten and his 10 consecutive wins in overtime games is one of his records that will likely never be broken. With series wins over the Nordiques, Sabres, Islanders and Kings, the Canadiens captured the franchise's 24th Stanley Cup title and members received diamond and gold masterpieces like this. The breathtaking tableau displays 46 real diamonds surrounding and decorating the raised image of the Stanley Cup with "1993" below. The 100th anniversary of hockey's ultimate prize is represented by the 100 points of diamonds. One shank features an enameled Habs logo with "Beliveau" above and "V.P." beneath. The 1993 logo of the Stanley Cup finals appears on the other along with "Canadiens Montreal" and "24 Together". The interior of the band is engraved "14K" and "Everest". The size 11 ring is in outstanding near mint condition. Seventeen Cup titles altogether is difficult to fathom. The remarkable Jean Beliveau will sign a letter of authenticity that will be included with this glorious memento.
