The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
The 1975-76 season saw the Montreal Canadiens claim the franchise's 18th Prince of Wales Trophy with 58 wins and 127 points before taking care of 2-time defending Stanley Cup champion Philadelphia in 4 straight games in the finals. Another Habs dynasty had begun with Montreal's exciting brand of firewagon hockey winning out over Philly's bruising and intimidating style. The "Flower" had blossomed as Guy Lafleur recorded his second of 6 consecutive 50-goal seasons, leading him to the first of 3 straight scoring championships. As a vice-president of the team that finished the regular season atop the Wales Conference, Jean Beliveau received this personal Wales trophy miniature. Four hockey sticks rise up from the 2-inch high wooden base to support a silver-plated cup with lid. An engraved metal plate on one side of base reads "NHL Champions - 1975-76 - Club De Hockey Canadiens" while the opposite side's inscription includes the name of the trophy and "Jean Beliveau". The special award from a special season is in gorgeous near mint condition. A letter of authenticity signed by a special person in Montreal franchise history will be included.
