Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
This personal Prince of Wales Trophy was presented to rookie Jacques Lemaire after the Montreal Canadiens finished first in the newly formed East Division in 1967-68, the first season after the NHL doubled in size, expanding from six to a dozen teams. "HRH Prince of Wales Trophy Jacques Lemaire" reads a plaque on the front of the base while "NHL Champions - Winners 1967-68 - Club de Hockey Canadien" appears on a plaque at the rear. The 13" tall award, which features four hockey sticks supporting a lidded cup, has acquired a golden patina and remains a gorgeous display piece. The green felt bottom is autographed by Jacques Lemaire, whose signed LOA accompanies this piece from his personal collection.
