Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Highly regarded as the greatest female hockey player of all-time, Hayley Wickenheiser was the first non-goaltender to play in a men's professional league when she played for HC Salamat in Finland's third-division. The Shaunavon native is also one of the most decorated Canadian athletes in history, winning four Olympic gold medals, and seven IIHF World Championships gold medals. This Team Canada alternate captain's jersey was worn by the superstar during the 2001-02 Women's National Team regular season. Made by Nike, the company's brand/size "54" tag is affixed to the inner collar along with additional "IIHF Authentic Collection" and "Made in Canada" labels as well. Accented over the reverse hem with an IIHF logo patch, Nike "swoosh" logos are present over the reverse neckline and right breast while the front of the jersey has been decorated with a Hockey Canada team crest that features embroidered details throughout. Alternate "heritage" patches have been placed at the top of both sleeves, with "22" sewn to the sleeves and verso in tackle twill. There are a few marks and burns over the sleeves along with pilling to each cuff and beneath the fight strap. An LOA from Hockey Canada will accompany.
