Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

Fresh off his fourth-consecutive Stanley Cup championship, Guy Lafleur would complete his sixth-consecutive season of 100+ points in 1979-80, and we offer a stick used by the legendary Canadiens star during that campaign, attributed to his 50th goal of the season. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model with desirable “Flower” name stamp (the majority has faded away), “G. Lafleur” is handwritten directly above, with a period inscription of “50ieme but" written on one side of the shaft. The original tape has been removed from the stick, with screened numerals and decals added to the front side blade that state “50”, along with “1979-80” and the date of the contest, “2-04-80”. “225 D” is also handwritten to the top and underside of the shaft. The historic lumber was once on display at the Sher-Wood hockey stick factory and has been consigned by a former Sher-Wood representative, with his LOA to accompany.
Heavy game-use is exhibited, with most of the striping accent gone and considerable surface wear throughout. There is chipping to the top side of the blade, with a hole drilled through the upper shaft, presumably from its prior display.
