The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Cup Championships superb souvenir is from a special night when the 12 players who were each contributors to the Canadiens' greatest dynasty in the late 1950's were reunited along with coach Toe Blake and paid tribute for their amazing run of 5 straight Stanley Cup titles. Prior to a game at the Montreal Forum during the ‘83-84 season each former player was introduced to the crowd and skated out in full hockey gear, dropped a puck on the ice and skated toward the other end to take a shot on Jacques Plante. They then gathered at center ice for a group shot with Blake and the Stanley Cup. Afterwards, the Richards, Plante, Beliveau, Geoffrion, Moore, Harvey, Johnson, Talbot, Turner, Provost, Marshall and Blake were presented with rings like this. A raised image of the Stanley Cup is encircled by "Cinq Coupes Stanley Consecutives" on the face while the shanks feature the Canadiens and NHL logos, the years and "J. Beliveau". The ring, reminiscent of the first Cup rings that Montreal players received in 1959, has "Everest" and "10K" stamped on the interior band. The size 11 ring shows just light wear and is in beautiful excellent-plus condition. One of the team leaders of the era, Jean Beliveau's signed LOA will accompany this tantalizing keepsake, along with a special group photo, also autographed by Beliveau.
