Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Absolutely stunning is this sensational piece obtained directly from the family of Hall-of-Famer Frederick "Bun" Cook, longtime standout left winger of the New York Rangers. Forming a potent offensive line with center Frank Boucher and his older brother Bill at right wing, Bun Cook contributed to New York’s Stanley Cup triumphs in 1928 and 1933 and is credited as being the first to perfect the drop pass. This colorized photo of the Rangers’ legend has "National N.Y." to the left of his right skate and was beautifully hand painted. Measuring approximately 14" by 19", the striking work is in its original fancy wooden frame, with "Bunny Cook (Rangers)" on a metal plaque affixed to the bottom edge. Both the plaque and the back of the frame indicate "Sept. 1926". Cook’s Kingston, Ontario address and phone number are also on the back. One-of-a-kind beauty that comes from the Cook's family. It will be accompanied by an LOA.
