Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
The incredible sharpness of Emile "Butch" Bouchard's original 1945-46 Stanley Cup Champion Montreal Canadiens team photo by Rice studios is something to behold. Irvin, Harmon, Richard, Durnan, Blake, Lach and Gorman are all seated in the front row with the likes of Reay, O'Connor, Reardon, Mosdell and Bouchard behind them, and you'll find yourself gazing in wonder at the amazing detail you can see in the uniforms and equipment. "Holders of the Stanley Cup - Canadiens World's Champions - 1946" appears in white letters across the bottom of this vintage 11 1/4" x 19" print, which has a vertical crease through the far right side and some other creasing that does not diminish its display. Spectacular panoramic photo has been professionally framed. Comes with Butch Bouchard's signed LOA. Before it was professionally framed, the late Butch Bouchard’s original Rice Studios 1945-46 Canadiens team photo was observed to have “1946” handwritten in black ink on the reverse, which has three clear plastic tape strips attached to the top edge and both sides. These are no longer visible as displayed in an off-white and black double matte, mounted in an 18” x 25 1/2" frame. Part of a small horizontal tear in middle of right edge shows along with creases in the top corners, though a torn bottom right corner no longer shows.
