“God bless Jim Hendy”! Mr. Hendy’s opening page “foreword” begins “This book of records of professional ice hockey has been compiled for those who are active in hockey as executives, managers, press agents, players and writers. It is not available to the public. I believe it is the first time in history that so many hockey records have been placed under one cover and because of the book’s loose-leaf binding, additional records may be added at any time.” Final standings for each season and scoring stats of every player are included from the NHL’s inception in 1917 up until and including the ’46-47 season. Playoff results are also present as are stats from the NHA, from 1910 to 1917, (the forerunner of the NHL), although Hendy, at the beginning of the guide, asks for help with three NHA seasons. A fabulous feature for historians are the various records such as; standings, individual scorers, playoff results and others which are listed for the AHA (27-28 to ’41-42), CHL (’33-34 & ’34-35), PCHL (’11-12 to ’23-24 & ’36-37 to ’40-41), NWHL (’33-34 to ’35-36), WCHL (’21-22 to ’25-26 & ’32-33), PCHL (’28-29 to ’30-31) and USHL (‘45-46). In short, amazing, amazing statistical reference material to excite stats enthusiasts.
