Fantastic and possibly unique opportunity here for international hockey collectors with this gold medal from the 1978 World Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The Russians won the gold ahead of Czechoslovakia and Canada, and received gold medals identical to this one which was an “extra” given to Team Canada’s Alan Eagleson by IIHF president Gunther Sabetzki. Two players battle for the puck on the front of the 2 3/4” award, while the back includes crossed hockey sticks and a globe of the world. In excellent-plus condition with a lightly soiled blue and yellow ribbon to mention, the special piece will be accompanied by a LOA signed by Alan Eagleson. As you can imagine, the chances of another one of these ever being offered to the hobby are very slim indeed.
