Sensational memento is from a special night in December of 1983 when the 12 players who were each contributors to the Canadiens’ greatest dynasty in the late 1950’s were reunited along with coach Toe Blake and paid tribute for their amazing run of five straight Stanley Cup titles. Blake is quoted as once having said, “starting that (’55-56) season and for five years, Jacques was the greatest goalie the league has ever seen.” In full equipment, Plante faced shots from his former mates prior to that Habs’ game in 1983 and then joined the Richards, Beliveau, Harvey, Geoffrion, Moore, Johnson, Talbot, Turner, Provost, Marshall and Blake at center ice for a group shot with the Stanley Cup. Afterwards, the hockey heroes were presented with fabulous gold rings like this one and had their pictures taken again with the Cup. A raised image of hockey’s ultimate prize is encircled by “Cinq Coupes Stanley Consecutives” on the face, while the sides feature the Canadiens and NHL logos, the years and “J. Plante”. The ring, reminiscent of the first Cup rings the players received in 1959, has “Everest” and “10K” stamped on the interior band. The size 7 1/2 ring shows very light wear and is in striking near mint condition. Captivating ring was obtained from Caroline Plante, the widow of Jacques, the latter one of the most important ingredients in the Canadiens’ record accomplishment. Without Jacques Plante, these rings likely would not have been produced! A photograph from the special night in 1983 will be included, along with a letter of authenticity signed by Caroline Plante.
