Item description
A packed house witnessed the raising of Wayne Gretzky's retirement banner to the rafters on the night of October 1st, 1999. After an emotion-filled ceremony, the Oilers took to the ice against the visiting New York Rangers. This chipped-up official NHL Oilers game puck saw action in that game and was plucked from the ice by Rick the Stick and handed to The Great One who penned a gold "Wayne Gretzky, Oct 1 1999" signature on the front. Rick then wrapped a strip of white cloth tape around the edge and marked "8:45 PM, Signed by WG. Oct. 1st, 1999". You won't find a more authentic signature from this memorable night in Edmonton! Light smudging to the autograph. From the personal collection of Rick "The Stick" Elaschuk with his signed letter of provenance.
