Item description
Heavy knit uniform worn by towering defenseman Barry Long during his tenure with the WHA Edmonton Oilers. This uniform was recycled for Long's use during preseason game action in 1974-75 and he is also pictured wearing the jersey in the official team photo taken at the beginning of the year. The Oilers took to the ice during the preseason wearing these heavier uniforms from 1972-73 and 1973-74 as the new Rawlings jerseys were not worn until the opening game of the regular season. Barry's white uniform is made by Western Athletic and displays the number "2" on the sleeves and again on the back below the chain-stitched "Long" nameplate (with evidence of a former plate). The jersey shows wear and washing with two team repairs.
