Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Affectionately known as The Roadrunner for his blinding speed, Yvan Cournoyer was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1973 with the Habs defeating the Black Hawks in the final, with the Drummondville native securing 25 points in just 17 games. We have a stick used by the 1982 HOF inductee during his rookie era, in the mid-1960s. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model, “Cournoyer” and “12” appear over the upper shaft, with a stamp from long-time Montreal supplier McNiece’s over the topside of the shaft. The stick retains its original black tape over the blade and knob, with vintage tape added over the heel section to hold the broken blade in place. Currently void of its striping accent, the stick exhibits nice wear, with marks present over the lower shaft along with the aforementioned broken blade.
