Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A mixed bag of vintage items with a large focus on the men between the pipes, we have something for nearly every collector, with pennants, photos, postcards, puzzles, supplements, framed displays and more! Highlights include 17 vintage pennants (12 NHL, 4 WHA and 1 Russian) including desirable examples for Detroit, Cleveland, California and Pittsburgh along with a Tony Esposito Player pennant. This is followed by a mix of 66 postcards – mostly goaltenders – including Vachon, Crozier, Worsley and Hall, with signed examples from Tony Esposito, Ed Belfour, Jimmy Waite and Darren Pang. We also have a pair of assembled puzzles including Tony Esposito, MSG program supplements (Henry, Kerr and Robertson), large matted photos (Sawchuk and Plante), two Red Wings framed calendar team pictures, framed limited edition Original Six arena photos, three small signed and framed photos (Cheevers, Bower and Binkley), an Original Six metal table top goalie framed display and more.
The pennants all show wear with pinholes, with a few having damage along the borders and to the tassels. Included with the aforementioned examples are Colorado, Toronto, Rangers, Boston and Pittsburgh (3 different), with the WHA examples to include Birmingham, New England, Alberta and Houston. The postcards all vary in condition, with most of the later examples (1980s) showing just light wear. The signed Esposito postcard is in poor condition, heavily creased. The matted Sawchuk and Plante photos are 15” x 18”, while the Oriignal Six framed building photos are each 11” x 14”, with each hand-numbered. The MSG program supplements are all lower grade, while the table top goalie display is approx. 12” x 15”, with each Eagle Toys goalie mounted near his team logo. Lastly, there are also two goalie masks posters, a large 17 ½” x 21 ½” framed photo of Lionel Conacher, three 1952-53 Bas du Fleuve hockey cards (netminders) and a 1962-63 Toronto Maple Leafs “Stanley Cup Champions” puck, with a clean logo and velcro over the reverse.
