Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Wool cardigans issued to members of sports teams were extremely popular throughout the early-to-mid-20th century. This beautiful vintage circa late-1950s/early-1960s Toronto Maple Leafs cardigan sweater has a label from MLG supplier Doug Laurie affixed to the collar, with a second tag from Albion affixed to the inner seam. Measuring out across the upper reverse to roughly a modern size 44, a detailed felt maple leaf team crest sits over the left breast with “Toronto Maple Leafs” embroidered, with dual white striping bands gracing each sleeve. With all buttons attached and the team crest fairly clean, there is a bit of white residue over the lower front, with a number of team repairs covering the front, reverse, sleeves and cuffs, with a large example over the right breast.
