Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

The 2009-10 season was particularly memorable for Sidney Crosby. After the first of his three Stanley Cup wins with the Pittsburgh Penguins the previous season, Sid the Kid scored 51 goals and shared the Maurice Richard Trophy with Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos, and also won the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award. Crosby’s Reebok game-used stick with his original tape jobs on the knob and blade is photo-matched to Pittsburgh’s game against Washington on April 6, 2010, when he scored his 48th goal and had an assist, just over a month after he scored the Golden Goal for Canada at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA and a Frameworth COA.
The stick is photo-matched by Getty Images #98294661 taken on April 6, 2010 by the specific placement, size and shape of a black mark low on the front of Crosby’s white tape job on the knob. Game use shows in wear through the bottom edge of the tape job on the blade, a gouge and chip to the top edge of the blade towards the heel, and a gouge to the bottom edge of the tape job towards the toe.
Crosby’s No. “87” is handwritten in black marker at the top of the knob. “S. Crosby 2” factory graphics are below the knob on the shaft, and a Frameworth hologram sticker is affixed low on the front of the shaft.
“4/6/10 vs Washington Capitals (3-6) loss 1 goal (#48) 1 assist (#51) 1st-2nd PD” is printed on a label affixed low on the backside of the shaft.
